ABOUT THE HOUSE & GARDEN

Oak Dene provides perfect accommodation for a weekend away or weekday short break or longer holidays and staycations, for a minimum of two nights.  There are a double and a twin bedroom, and with a further fold-out bed five people can sleep comfortably.  The large bathroom has a roll-top bath and walk-in shower and there are two WCs.  The living room is generous and the dining room seats eight.  The kitchen is fully equipped and there are clothes washing and drying facilities. The house is reverse-cycle air-conditioned and heated and the Wi-Fi is reliable.

Mature gardens surround the house, and guests have a fully private furnished veranda, sunny lawn and BBQ.  Two London plane trees are on the National Trust’s Register of Significant Trees. A car can be parked off-street and under cover. All of this makes a quiet, tranquil setting that has the quality of a retreat.  Oak Dene is a heritage home, built in 1908 and Classified by the National Trust of Australia.  Uniquely, it is built entirely from corrugated iron – walls, ceilings and roof.

Your host lives in an adjoining fully self-contained wing of the house and you share the entrance veranda.
